Pro Dogs Direct became a Registered Charity in 2006. Prior to this they were part of the national charity ‘Pro Dogs’ for about ten years. When Pro Dogs closed its’ door it was felt there was still a need for vulnerable dogs to be rescued, cared for and re-homed without having to go into kennels, and so, Pro Dogs Direct was born.

We love that the charity operates a no-destruction policy and that they believe every dog deserves the chance of a long happy life. This means they often take in puppies and dogs that many other rescues would turn away or euthanise.

Instead, and despite the cost, the charity provides whatever medical care, treatment, or attention each dog needs to get them fit, well and ready to be adopted. Many of their dogs, especially ex-breeding dogs have had traumatic pasts and have never know love or what it is to be a much-loved pet so rather than being kept in kennels, they are fostered by volunteers in their own homes and looked after as treasured pets whilst the charity finds the perfect ‘forever home’ for them.
